"I sat down to sketch these flowers on-location, and wrote this note to myself in my sketch book: 'Fields of flowers; light and shadows; dew drops; it's all lovely; every detail; every blade of grass; the drone of bees; murmur of creek; breeze blowing and nodding the heads of the flowers. The sego lilies are spectacular.' "
