Oil on Board

Ken and Ruth Wright wanted a painting to commemorate 50 successful years of business for their firm. Their interest in the Colorado River basin as well as their commitment to researching how ancient civilizations used water in the West attracted them to this view of the Grand Canyon. I had painted it previously in watercolors, and was happy to tackle it again in oils. Because I was using oils, I was able to complete the painting more quickly in time for their Golden Jubilee celebrations. (The paint was still wet though!)
