"Datura flowers last for only one night each. They open early in the evening, taking about half an hour to unfold. (If you are lucky enough to be camping on a beach with them, you can watch the show.) They last until the first sun hits, when they wilt rapidly. To me, they symbolize the romance of the canyon and the river."
